News & Upcoming Events
- Well done Georgia at the Nationals! Sounds like it was tough conditions down in Tasmania, with Sunday’s crit unfortunately having to be cancelled.
- September 10th – we are holding an Interclub race morning in conjunction with Sutherland Shire Cycle Club. Race format will be the same as usual – if you haven’t raced before & hold a race license we would love to see you come & have a go.
- Well done to Tony Graf, Ian Drinnan & Brian Peters – they competed last weekend in the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships race in Albi, France. It sounded like a
tough race, with a huge amount of competitors across all divisions. The photos on Facebook look amazing!
Junior Racing (Report by Scott)
15 junior riders came out on Father’s Day. The group of little riders continues to grow and Felix, Lulu (SXCC), Gael and Eli have lots of fun zooming around track 1.
Time trial times were quick today, given the somewhat windy weather, Ashley (STG) 1:28 was quickest from Sarah (LACC) 1:32, Jaxen and Tom (1:34), Jarrod and Kai (both LACC) 1:36 and Oli 1:38.
The fastest riders took on a 7 lap race of T3. Oli broke early and pulled away, Jaxen valiantly tried to keep up and then made a stunning late charge to get within a wheel at the end of the race of Oli, both finishing in 20:07. Tom led the chase group who finished a minute behind but close together from Luke, Kai, Ashley Sarah and Jarrod.
The next group took on 6T2 and 2T3 laps. Liam and Sam (LACC) took on Andy and Daniel (SXCC). Andy had chain issues twice in the race and wasn’t able to stay with them but in a really close sprint finish Liam just held Sam and Daniel off.
Ruby on a racing bike performed very well for a 5 lap race of T2 on her own.
Two elimination races were then held. Again the sprint finishes were exciting, Liam held off Daniel, from Sam then Andy. Tom just held Oli off from Jaxen, Kai and Sarah.
